bet365 suffers an outage during Champions League night

bet365 went down across a wide area on Tuesday evening, leaving users unable to get into their accounts, load football markets, or place bets during the main slate of Champions League matches. The operator acknowledged the problems through its bet365 Help account on X, saying its technical team was working to restore services and apologising to affected customers.

Outage reports started climbing around the start of the evening Champions League schedule and kept coming for several hours into the football night. DownForEveryoneOrJustMe recorded an outage lasting roughly two hours on Oct. 13, while StatusGator detected problems for almost three hours and logged more than 1,300 user-submitted reports across the following 24 hours.

Nine Champions League games were played on Tuesday, among them Arsenal against Lille, Atlético Madrid against Manchester United, Inter against Club Brugge, Galatasaray against Barcelona, and Viking against Bayern Munich. Most of the evening matches kicked off at 9pm CET, which put much of the outage right across the window when pre-match and live football betting would normally peak.

Login failures, the app not loading, and football match pages and Bet Builder markets disappearing all showed up in StatusGator’s complaints, while reports gathered by DownForEveryoneOrJustMe included locked-out accounts and error messages from customers in the UK, Germany, Denmark, Iceland, Cyprus, and the US. Reddit users added that bets were failing to submit during the matches even when they could get into their accounts.

Some customers said the disruption dragged on after kickoff, cutting off in-play markets on a night full of big score swings. Bayern came back from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Viking, Barcelona recovered to beat Galatasaray 4-1, and Club Brugge won 4-3 away at Inter, exactly the kind of shifting in-play markets users said they couldn’t reach or bet on during parts of the outage.

By Wednesday morning, bet365 still hadn’t said what caused the outage. Services were running normally again when checked on Oct. 14, though StatusGator kept showing individual login complaints after the main incident ended. The company’s general support pages tell customers with loading problems to retry the app or site and clear cached data, but Tuesday’s volume of reports and bet365’s own acknowledgement make clear the problem went well beyond isolated devices.

Connectivity or technical failures that interrupt gambling transactions count as “Interruptions” under bet365’s UK terms, which let the operator suspend betting markets, void affected transactions, and return stakes. No general settlement or compensation policy tied to Tuesday’s outage has been announced, and customers disputing how an affected bet was handled can go through bet365’s complaints process, with unresolved UK complaints eligible for referral to the Independent Betting Adjudication Service.

Two other periods of elevated outage reports hit bet365 earlier in October. DownForEveryoneOrJustMe recorded roughly six hours of disruption on Oct. 10 and another six hours on Oct. 9, and StatusGator logged separate app-access and login incidents on both dates. bet365 hasn’t said whether those problems were connected to Tuesday’s outage.
